Replacing a car radio is one of the best upgrades you can make, but it's also where most fitment questions come from. Here's the short version.
What DIN means
DIN is a standard size for car radio openings. A single DIN unit is about 180 × 50 mm on the front; a double DIN unit is about 180 × 100 mm. Many older cars have a single DIN opening, many newer ones have double DIN or a fully custom dash.
Large-screen Android units
9" and 10.1" Android radios have a double DIN body behind a bigger screen. They usually need a vehicle-specific fascia (frame) to sit neatly in the dash. Vehicle-specific units, like the ones made for a particular Hilux or Fortuner year, are built to fit that dash.
What else you might need
- Fascia or trim plate so the new unit fits the dash opening.
- Wiring harness so you don't have to cut the factory loom.
- Aerial adaptor to connect the factory antenna lead.
- Steering wheel control interface if you want to keep the buttons on your steering wheel.
These parts are sold separately unless a product page says they're included.
How to check before you buy
- Note your vehicle's make, model and year, and whether it came with a factory screen, navigation or premium sound.
- Take a photo of your dash.
- Send it to us before you order and we'll help you check what fits and what else you need.
